Mike and I love custom lighting.  Last night we were up to the wee hours of the morning making vintage pulley lights and other custom lighting for the Vintage bazaar.  For those of you that know both of us - we both take on many projects and sometimes end up working all hours of the day.  Unfortunately this can sometimes cause the mind to stop functioning.  Here are a a few tips to keeping sharp late at night.  1) Caffeine - Drink a few cups before taking on a new project at midnight 2) Try not to take on too many brain teasers -  when asked "Why did you string that around the pulley 5 times" always try to factor in the amount of sleep one needs before answering that question 3)Never question the someone else's work after midnight  4)Move around- a brisk walk or dancing always helps...this also helps to lighten the mood 5) Wait until the morning and when your partner is out getting donuts - redo any work that may have been compromised during the wee hours of the morning work time.

Final product - These will be available next weekend along with a few other vintage custom lights!

Here is the famous - Red Tractor pedal car - Mike's first antique flip.  Actually it is now the business mascot and he probably won't sell it.  Let's see if someone can sweet talk him into selling it!!!

We are busy preparing for the Vintage Bazaar in one week!  More items will be posted to Etsy soon, but for now we have lots of repurposing, building and organizing to do!

Stop by The Vintage Bazaar next Saturday and Sunday and see all our finds.

BTW, Cari Cucksey from RePurpose and HGTV's Cash & Cari show will be there -http://www.repurposeshop.com/.  We are very excited to be a part of this event! https://www.facebook.com/#!/TheVintageBazaar

You never know what you are going to find when you start digging.  Recently Mike needed to dig a hole in his backyard to help with some drainage issues and he  discovered some very old treasure! Here are the  glass bottles he found dating back to the mid 1800's.

We of course did a little research on the area he lives in and  discovered that there was a glass bottle company in the area later in the 1800's.  Wouldn't it be great to go back in time and see what your street looked like 100 or so years ago?

We found this much out so far on the glass company - Formed during May 1867, this works existed in Somerville, Massachusetts. Samuel Oakman was president. The company continued under this name until 1871, when the property transferred ownership. After that time, the Boston Bottle Works was listed at the same address as the Massachusetts Glass Company.

Of course everyone can always use a laugh and below is Mike down in the hole he dug.  I fear he may keep digging now that he has found treasure and soon his entire back yard will be a giant hole...lol!

We are changing our name to Red Tractor Vintage - in honor of Mike's first vintage find bought to sell (he finds tons of things all the time and usually keeps them...LOL).  We found a 1950's vintage pedal car last fall up in Warner, NH during their Fall folliage fesitval - I walked away thinking the price was way too high, but Mike came around the corner with it in his hands.  He had some how sweet talked the woman into a reasonable price.  I was amazed on how he did it.

We just might sell it now that we have the site going and a new etsy page (a real picture to come soon) . Well we will try to part with it at least though you may have to wrestle  it out of Mike's hands!!  Let's see if anyone tries to make Mike an offer at our first event at the Vintage Bazaar in few weeks in Salisbury!
Though now that we are naming the business after it - I think this is Mike's way of not selling it...LOL

Let us know how you like the new look and logo!!
